Electra Perivolaris
Landscape and musical traditions of the Isle of Arran.
The composition will be for solo soprano saxophone and recorded soundscape. Continuing her exploration of melodic forms and structures of Gaelic psalm singing. Premiering on 6 December, in the Love Lines concert during Scotland Unwrapped at Kings Place. Electra is also creating a soundscape from recordings of natural and human sounds from Arran. To create an immersive experience which will transport the audience for the duration of the concert.

Electra is a composer and pianist from Scotland. BBC Radio 3 have described her as ‘One of a new generation of female trailblazers’. She draws inspiration from the natural world of her home on the Scottish Isle of Arran and from her family’s roots on the Greek island of Chios.
Recent commissions included work for the London Sinfonietta, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Composers’ Hub.
Sir James MacMillan CBE described her as ‘one of the most exciting young composers emerging in Scotland today’. Electra commits herself to community music projects that involve diverse groups, increase access to music and engage audiences as active participants in the creative process. In 2022, Electra received a co-commission from London Sinfonietta/Live Music Now/Theatre of Sound . During this commission Electra worked with families living with dementia to create a new opera which told their stories. It premiered in November 2022 at London’s Stone Nest Theatre and featured on BBC Radio 3’s ‘Music Matters’.
