Sound Out! Schools Concert
Join presenter Patrick Bailey and six London Sinfonietta musicians to explore how to compose and create new music in Sound Out! Listen to pieces by living composers, join in with the performance, and hear new work by young composers who have taken part in Composition Challenges, our project exploring composition in primary schools across England.
London Sinfonietta’s Sound Out Concert is an interactive, whistle-stop tour of composition and creativity in London’s esteemed Royal Festival Hall, delivered every year since 2013.
Each year, we curate a new programme for the concert, involving a diverse range of composers, brand-new interactive pieces, and compositions written by young people on our Composition Challenges. Through the music, we introduce young people to the joy of new music as well as educating them on composition. With our specially commissioned piece, our audience become performers, joining in to create the new piece with the ensemble on stage.
The music is SO contemporary – literally fresh off the page. It is really exciting for students to see the process of coming up with ideas to watching the final piece of music being performed on stage and just not anything you could replicate anywhere else!Teacher, Sound Out Schools Concert, 2023
