Boulez Side by Side
Explore New Music. Nurture New Talent.

Our side-by-side projects with students and young professionals, providing specialist training for future explorers.

Playing the Future is our project working in partnership with Higher Education institutions. We provide emerging musicians with specialist training in performing contemporary classical music by programming concerts alongside members of the London Sinfonietta.

During our 2025-26 season we will work with the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music

In October 2025, our Boulez: Sonic Structures featured students from the Royal Academy of Music’s Manson Ensemble performing side-by-side with London Sinfonietta players.

In June 2026, in an expanded side-by-side project, we will feature young musicians from our North London Hub Partners (11-18 year olds), students from the Royal College of Music and the London Sinfonietta players. At our ‘Time Entwined’ concert they will premiere a new piece by award-winning composer James B Wilson, commissioned by the London Sinfonietta and written specifically for the line up.

We are very grateful to the Steven R. Gerber Trust, the Barbara Whatmore Charitable Trust, the De Laszlo Foundation and Three Monkies Trust for their support of the London Sinfonietta’s Playing the Future programme.
